Among the various types of hair restorations, including a hair transplant, luminotherapy, mesotherapy, or dermopigmentation, a hair transplant is the only restoration procedure that may leave light scarring. However, depending on where you receive a transplant, expertise plays a role in the patient’s scaring. The rest of the hair restoration processes can be done successfully scare-free for the patient.

FUE One-Touch Procedure

An FUE One-Touch procedure (hair transplant) is minimally invasive and involves the surgeon removing individual follicles and implanting them into the patient’s desired area. During this procedure, the extraction and implantation are conducted with special instruments with a diameter of less than 1.00mm. Patients should not be able to see the signs of the hair transplant after a few days.

FUT Procedure

The FUT hair transplant is an older procedure, and patients generally experience scarring due to the nature of the procedure. Instead of small extractions being made from the hair follicles, the FUT procedure involves removing areas of the hair (usually from the bottom of the head) to the desired section (top of the head). This means that the hair is relocated in a surgical matter, making the patient more prone to visible scarring.

Hair Covers Scarring in FUE One-Touch

While the extraction areas are minimal and hardly visible during the FUE procedure, the patient’s hair will cover any signs of these tiny scars. Hair will grow back into the same follicles that were pulled, leaving a patient with a natural look and no signs of the procedure. This type of hair procedure is far less invasive than FUT and is the most popular hair transplant.

Poor Procedures Can Result in Scars

It is possible for some to experience visible scarring while hair is short and thin after an FUE transplant. This can be a result of a poor hair transplant that inexperienced surgeons performed. In this case, the surgeon may have extracted far too many hair follicles in a specific area, resulting in patchy hair growth. Another result of scarring may occur from too many follicles extracted in general, resulting in new hair growth that cannot completely conceal. Overall, although the FUE procedure creates much smaller incisions during the procedure, an FUE transplant that is performed incorrectly can look far worse than an incision scar from FUT because the FUE extraction areas are spread throughout the head.

Choose an Experienced Clinic

Choosing the right hair clinic can make all of the difference in a successful, non-scarring hair restoration procedure. Hair restoration should look natural for the patient, and scaring shouldn’t be noticeably seen. A consultation with a professional should inform you on which hair restoration procedure is right for you depending on your hair and desired results.
