Where to do your hair transplant in Greece?

Try to choose centers where hair restoration services are performed by doctors. Ask information about your medical team. Where were they trained? How many years of experience do they have?

What is the best hair transplant technique?

The best hair transplant technique is the one that can offer you the maximum number of grafts and maximum possible hair growth.FUE technique is the least invasive method but more time consuming as it normally gets 4-6 hours for a daily session. In each FUE session the medical expert can achieve 2000-2500 grafts which equals 4000-5000 hair per session. It involves only a few days downtime for the patient and its not painful. In contrast with FUT (strip) method which lasts shorter but has a much bigger recovery time.

The difference between the 2 techniques is that wth the FUE, the grafts are extracted one by one from the back of the head (which is the donor area-as we don’t lose hair from this area) while with the FUT a strip of skin is removed from the back of the head along with the grafts on it and then the doctor stiched the head! Grafts are extracted from the strip of skin by assistants and they are tranplanted into the recipient area. So the main difference between those two techniques is the extraction method.

When it comes to the implantation phase, there are different techniques and variations. The implantation can be done by opening recipient holes in the treated area and then push inside the grafts with forceps. Or to be done by useing special devices called the implanters. The implanters install the grafts directly into the skin controlling the depth and the direction of the grafts much better, thus achieving more natural results. It is important for the patients to conclude to the technique they wish to have taking into consideration the expertise of the doctor who is going to perform it.

Where to have hair transplanted?

You can have a hair transplant to any area you wish to rrestore. By all latest techniques the hair and the beard can be fully restored. While recent years, more and more popular is becoming the restoration of areas that underwent permanent depilation treatments. Such as pubic area, bikini line and or chest for men.

When to do a hair transplant?

You can do a hair transplant whenever you want to. You need to be above 18 years old and to have a detailed medical plan stating that your alopecia type can be treated by hair transplant. There are more than 10 types of alopecia. Not all of them can be treated by hair tranplsant. Especially women should do a comprehensive hormonal panel before any treatment.

When does baldness stabilize?

Baldness is the most common word describing androgenetic alopecia. Ii is measured in the Norwood scale and goes up to grade 7-8. Stabilization of androgenetic alopecia can be therefore once the patnet goew to the last grade, meaning when he has lost all of the hair except the hair in the donor area (back of the head).

But this is not the case for all! It depends from the age that a person will show first signs of alopecia. It is also related with the genetic factors. Meaning someone can lose hair from the temples and no more. This is why it is important to pay attention to the early stages of alopecia and seek for medical advice not only to prevent its evolution but to follow the optimal treatments.

Who can do a hair transplant?

Anyone who suffers from androgenetic alopecia can do a hair transplant. Contraindications of such treatment are severe dermatological conditions and also severe blood conditions.

When to cut your hair after a transplant?

After a transplant  it is important you take care of your hair and scalp. Follow the medical team’s instructions and be patient! During the first days after a transplant the grafts are getting absorbed within the blood circulation and form new skin tissue around them. This process takes approximately 3 weeks. Therefore you can safely have a hair cut one month after the hair transplant procedure

How does a hair transplant work?

During an FUE hair transplant the donor area grafts are  extracted from the sides or back of the head by a surgeon using a micro instrument called the punch.  These areas are usually deemed to be a ‘safe zone’ – basically an area of the head in which hair loss is less common and therefore existing follicles can be used. The extracted follicles are then carefully implanted into the treated area of the scalp. The surgeon will implant the hair in a manner that will make it look both full and natural – therefore reversing the signs of hair loss that can affect many men. Depending on the amount of grafts needed, the procedure can be completed in a few hours.

However, if a larger number of grafts are required it might be necessary to do  the treatment out over two sessions.Due to the fact that the hairs have been implanted into the scalp, they are actually resistant to the balding process. This means that patients can put their worries about hair loss behind them once the procedure is complete. There will usually be a noticeable difference immediately afterwards. However, the procedure is only the start of a longer process. All in all, it can typically take between eight to 12 months for the area to feature luscious natural-looking locks. This can vary from patient to patient depending on the speed in which they experience hair growth.

The hair is actually programmed to continue to grow since it is made of healthy hair follicles only in spots where cell growth had become limited. This means that patients should experience their hair growing and becoming longer in the way that it would if they had not suffered from hair loss.

Do hair transplants grow?

Of course. The follicles that are transplanted are vivid organs of our body. We just re- place them. As soon as they get absorbed by the body they act like a part of it. They grow normally as they have always been there.

When does hair fall out after a transplant?

After a hair transplant, hairs are starting to fall 3-4 weeks later. The follicles trying to settle in their new environment and this results to sudden hairloss. Attention. It’s the hair that fall, not the follicles! They start regrowing 8-10 weeks post transplant.

Why does the transplanted hair not fall out?

The main cause of androgentic alopecia is hormonal imbalance. The balding areas are affected by testosterone levels. While the back of the head (donor zone or zone of stable hairgrowth) is not affected by testosterone. When we transfer the follicles from this area to a balding area these follicles still maintain their features. The hairs that are produced are durable and do not fall.

Therefore, in their new position, the hairs will behave as they would do  in the area where we took them from. That is, it will grow normally and retain the same color they had and will be just as durable.
